According to Automotive Fleet.com, by 2007, one new diesel truck will emit just one sixtieth of the tailpipe pollution as one produced in 1988. A decade in the making, the reduction takes credit from a combination of government initiatives; specifically, imposed improvements in engine technology, and a new ultra-low sulfur fuel - which is now available nationwide

The fuel, already being consumed by over 8 million diesel-powered buses and trucks in the United States alone, is 97% cleaner than the original fuel its replacing.

Even though the new diesel fuel can only account for a 10% reduction in total fuel pipe emissions, in combination with the new line of diesel engines hitting the road, total tailpipe emissions can be reduced by 95%, according to the National Resource Defense Counsel (NRDC).

Moreover, owners of existing diesel trucks can also benefit. Thanks to the new fuel, they now have the option to install emission controls that can reduce their total soot pollution by up to 90%.
